For Refugees: Refugees can contact the nearest office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for protection, assistance, and help finding a durable solution. In some cases, the nearest representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) may also be able to offer assistance or protection.
For Others: In addition to the resources mentioned above, every country has policies with regard to refugees. In the United States, refugee policy is developed and implemented by the Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Homeland Security. To help a refugee in your community, contact your State Refugee Coordinator, or check the telephone book for social service agencies providing English as a Second Language, employment services, childcare, low-cost health care services, or immigration services.
Refugee Health: A number of USCRI publications deal with refugee health issues such as HIV and mental health, and are available free of charge. Follow this link to access these publications.
